Religion: retarding development at every turn.

Religion: retarding progress at every turn.

If not for the religion governed Dark Ages, where would we be today?

“Religion”, antonym of “progress”.

Religion: It’s magic. I ain’t gotta explain shit.

Religion: it’s magic! You couldn’t understand it if you tried so I won’t even try to explain how it works. Just believe me and everything will be ok.

That’s what is sold to religionuts around the world. It’s what religionuts around the world buy. What annoys me to no end is why they are willing to accept that answer. Why they refuse to try or even want to understand the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of their particular superstition.

Their self-imposed ignorance is nothing to be proud of and yet they are so proud.

Faith: Just another word for “brand loyalty” to one of the oldest and most corrupt corporations on the planet.

Matthew 19:21
19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

So… what IS the net worth of the Catholic church? Could poverty be eliminated if every Christian church and all Christian property including the Vatican was sold and the money used to… well, eliminate poverty?

And they’re not doing it because…

I still marvel at the abject stupidity that claims that Genesis (and the rest of the Bible) is literally true. It isn’t and people’s inexplicable infantile wishes that it is… words elude me.

Of course, there are those who have invented their own religions and agree that Genesis and vast swathes of the Bible are not, in fact, literally true but that there still is a masochistic-sadistic sky fairy who had himself tortured and killed … to appease himself. Why? Why did he torture and kill himself if there was no Adam and Eve? Flaming idiots.

My own view on religion…

Bertrand Russell on religion

Bertrand Russell on religion

My own view on religion is that of Lucretius. I regard it as a disease born of fear and as a source of untold misery to the human race. I cannot however deny that it has made some contributions to civilisation. It helped in the early days to fix the calendar, and it caused Egyptian Priests to chronicle eclipses with such care that in time they became able to predict them. These two services I am prepared to acknowledge, but I do not know of any others. — Bertrand Russell
