It’s long but totally worth it. It doesn’t even comment on the inherent stupidity of religious beliefs so it won’t offend the delicate sensibilities of the faithful (man I hate that word). It does pretty much call my favourite scam artists, Benny Hinn in particular, what they are. Filthy, lying, despicable scam artists.

Derren Brown is the most awesome. Scuba instructors are also pretty awesome.

Oh, and better watch quickly, I doubt the BBC is going to leave it up for long.

The long and the short is this: Derren Brown selects an average guy, a scuba diving instructor and trains him to be a faith healer, takes him to America and gets him to put on a faith healing show. Which he does and people believe him.

The point? Faith healing is an obvious scam and millions (Americans and Africans mostly, go figure) fall for it all the time. It’s evil.

That is all.

God is love.

Yea… I think I’ll pass on that love thanks a whole bunch.

What IS the opposite of writers block then anyway? The reason I haven’t been posting much is not so much a lack of time; this weekend I had plenty. My problem is I have so much to say on so many topics I’m scared of starting because what I have to say doesn’t fit into a blog post. Or six. And I know from previous experience the average person landing on this page doesn’t get through 5,000 word posts.

I could write a book I suppose but to be honest, I don’t actually have the time for that much writing at the moment.

For example, I have a bunch of stuff I want to say on contradictions in the Bible (manifold contradictions). I have a bit to say about the cognitive dissonance of the average Christian religiot. I have some things I’d like to cover around the idiocy of the argument between Harris and Craig.

Take the Harris vs. Craig debate as an example. The topic was “Is Good From God”.  A vaguely interesting question but fundamentally stupid. Which god are you talking about? I get “good”. I get the concept(s) of “god”. But asking if good comes from god without specifying which god exactly seems to me to be rather stupid. You have to ask because “good” coming from “a god” is a non starter, it is a pointless question. The answer to which is yes, it comes from the Flying Spaghetti Monster which is awesome. Case closed. But not really.

So, if you then venture into tricky space and say “good” is from the Christian god then you have the mighty large problem explaining why Hindu’s, Muslims, Africans, South Americans, Australians, Chinese and strange little Eskimos are also good never having heard of the Christian god.  Oh, and then there’s the legions of good atheists too. Fancy that.

So what then? The Christian God makes good even when you don’t know he exists? And don’t get me started on the things in the Bible classified as ‘good’! Slavery anyone?!? Gah! The stupid! It burns!

Perhaps I’ll get to writing something constructive this weekend. Perhaps.

What actually got me to write the previous post was watching this gem of a video by Pat Condell. He’s awesome most of the time, direct, doesn’t mince his words and he has an awesome sense of irony.

I watched the video and came back here to post this very post but then thought, hey, I should first explain why I haven’t posted anything for a while. And that got me thinking about Easter which made me furious and, well, I guess the rest is history.

Right, on to the video, watch it, it’s awesome. And funny. A good combination:

Watch more Pat Condell awesome here:

…but then I got to thinking. Which made me furious.

Jesus and the Easter bunny.

The one dude who comes around here regularly might have (or might not have, more likely) noticed that I haven’t posted anything in a while. Well, I haven’t. I’ve been busy again. Being busy doesn’t leave much time to think about things and not much time to be furious. Furious about religious bullshit anyway because that requires paying attention to what the sheep are doing.

However, it’s getting to that time of year again where a couple billion otherwise (mostly) rational people celebrate the alleged brutal execution of a god-man who then allegedly woke up again (note: the instruction book’s writers can’t actually agree on how this played out) some days later. Also there is some stuff about palms on a Sunday in there too. And egg laying rabbits. Don’t look at me, I don’t get it either.

Anyway, the brouhaha (an actual, real word surprisingly, clichéd as all hell, but awesome… ) being made of this supernatural horror story sort of forces me to pay attention which in turn makes me furious at the stupidity being displayed, yet again, front and centre where I can’t possibly ignore it.

So, here it is: Christian, do you accept evolution by natural selection to be the fact that it is, backed up by more evidence than you can imagine, used to explain more biological, neurological, physiological and genetic effects than most people think possible?

No? You don’t think macro evolution is possible? Then you are lacking in education and your take on reality is warped. Try a bit harder. If you also deny the theory of gravity then, well, I guess we’ll just leave it at that.

If you thought ‘yes’, you do accept evolution by natural selection to be true then… well then what, exactly, are you celebrating ‘Easter’ for?

What I mean is this: if you accept the truth of the fact of evolution by natural selection which means there was no Adam and Eve (which there weren’t, some pretty straight forward genetics proves that more than adequately) and that if there was no Adam and Eve there was no ‘tree of knowledge of good and evil’, there was no original sin, then there really is no way to justify or aggrandise the torture and execution of one Jesus of Nazareth, real or imagined.

You can keep seeing a deity behind evolution all you want but the one thing that all of Christianity is based on simply isn’t true, demonstrably can’t be true. Not, however, that anybody can adequately explain why a deity would need to have a bit of himself killed by his creations before he can forgive his creations for doing what he knew they would do before they did it having enabled them to do it. And by ‘it’ I mean the breaking of arbitrary rules imposed by the creator… who now requires a god-man sacrifice of himself to forgive ‘it’. Seriously, what are you people on?

I guess what I am saying then is: Christianity is delusional even before you add the facts. Once you add the fact’s it’s stupid superstitious nonsense which also happens to be delusional.

But thanks for the public holidays, appreciate it.

Llamas mate with the female in a kush (lying down) position, which is fairly unusual in a large animal. They mate for an extended period of time (20–45 minutes), also unusual in a large animal.
