Faith: Just another word for “brand loyalty” to one of the oldest and most corrupt corporations on the planet.
Disagree?
Matthew 19:21
19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
So… what IS the net worth of the Catholic church? Could poverty be eliminated if every Christian church and all Christian property including the Vatican was sold and the money used to… well, eliminate poverty?
And they’re not doing it because…

Because it is too profitable? : )
It is interesting that Christianity, which calls for helping the poor, as you noted, somehow gets translated into exactly the opposite. The more fundamental they are, they less they care about the poor and the more they emphasize the hoarding of wealth and espouse “personal responsibility” as the panacea for poverty. I guess it goes back to that whole Protestant Ethic thing.
Yea, it’s the thing about Christianity I find the most strange. I had a Christian tell me in a comment once that the bits of the Bible where Jesus says to sell your stuff and give to the poor isn’t meant for *today’s* Christians. Convenient excuse methinks.
Their minds, I don’t understand how they work.
There’s also the Prosperity Gospel nonsense that gets thrown around, with evangelists making millions off of gullible congregations, who mistakenly hope to make millions themselves.
